The Money Management Program is free, confidential, and provided by volunteers who are carefully selected, trained and supervised.  A Money Management Program Volunteer can help balance a checkbook, prepare checks for signature, sort and prioritize mail, fill out forms and paperwork, develop a budget, and negotiate with creditors on behalf of eligible participants.

To be eligible for assistance, you must:

  • Be at least 60 years old
  • Live in Beverly, Essex, Gloucester, Hamilton, Ipswich, Manchester-By-The-Sea, Rockport, Topsfield or Wenham
  • Not earn more than $22,214 ($31,433 for a couple)
  • Have no more than $35,000 in liquid assets

The Money Management Program, sponsored by AARP, Mass Home Care and The Executive Office of Elder Affairs, was launched in 1995, and is partially funded by the Commonwealth.
