VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR MONEY MANAGEMENT PROGRAM

Money Management VolunteersThe Money Management Program is a free service that assists low-income elders who have difficulty writing checks, balancing checkbooks, and managing their money. Our clients live in Beverly, Essex, Gloucester, Hamilton, Ipswich, Manchester, Rockport, Topsfield and Wenham. Oftentimes, these elders are homebound, disabled, visually impaired, potential victims of exploitation and/or without family nearby.

SeniorCare's Money Management Program is jointly sponsored by Mass Home Care, the Executive Office of Elder Affairs and AARP.

Please contact us if you know of a low-income senior in need of this service.

The Money Management Program is free, confidential, and provided by volunteers who are carefully selected, trained and supervised.  A Money Management Program Volunteer can help balance a checkbook, prepare checks for signature, sort and prioritize mail, fill out forms and paperwork, develop a budget, and negotiate with creditors on behalf of eligible participants.

To be eligible for assistance, you must:

  • Be at least 60 years old
  • Live in Beverly, Essex, Gloucester, Hamilton, Ipswich, Manchester-By-The-Sea, Rockport, Topsfield or Wenham
  • Not earn more than $24,837 ($35,144 for a couple)
  • Have no more than $35,000 in liquid assets

The Money Management Program, sponsored by AARP, Mass Home Care and The Executive Office of Elder Affairs, was launched in 1995, and is partially funded by the Commonwealth. To volunteer to become a Money Manager, to request Money Management services, or to donate to the program, please contact us.
